Graffiti Research Lab

I believe that the technical term for this device is "a really big fucking laser."

What does this mean for the future of graff and political discourse? Time will tell...

Project Cost: $8000 for camera, PC, Open Source software, laser, and projector.

MY work...

I recently underwent some incredibly powerful changes; one of those changes is the loss of a hard-drive with most of my work on it: all electronic/photoshop work done since graduation in December 2004. I'm currently saving some money to have a tech crack the thing open and tell me how much it's recoverable for, but in the mean-time I'm re-scanning slides and going back over old processes. (the bad news is that some of those processes may have been lost, and there will be no more prints of images like this, the last remaining of which can be obtained here. )

It's actually good for me. In some ways it's going to help me get my act together again, and it'll also get me looking seriously at some of these old things again - because I have to.

This blog won't be about my work. This will not be yet another VCU or Richmond blog. I already have places for that. I plan on using this place for impersonal queries into the art goings-on around me that I might perchance find particularly interesting, and obviously VCU and Richmond are going to be contributors. Apolitically, and without trying to turn this into a personal journal, I'm willing to see what happens.

This one isn't about me, this one's about you. Enjoy.
